Teenager workshops

[Lampworking aka Beadmaking or Fused glass workshop] This is a half day school holiday weekday program that will open your mind to using glass to create your own beads, pendants/coasters. Lampworking (beadmaking) is a magical art where you melt glass and create your own beads. Fusing glass is mosaicing with layers and elements which are then fused together to create pictures with glass.

Each day chosen $125 includes all materials
Duration: individual weekdays 11h00 – 15h00 (see calendar for dates)
Where: Born to Bead studio 12 Minaret Drive Bucklands Beach Auckland

The Week date workshops include:

Running various week days during the school holidays, the teen program teaches teenagers the basics in lampworking and fusing glass.

Teens will learn how to use equipment, practise safety, use the torch, melt glass, make beads. Techniques include decorating beads with dots, stringers, canes, murrinis, enacsing, silver foil and more. In addition teens learn how to fuse glass pendants, coasters and side plates. By the end of the 5 weeks they are empowered to explore with glass.

Beads  and fused pieces cycle in the kiln overnight so completed beads will either be collected by yourself the following day or alternatively for an additional fee Born to Bead can clean your beads and post them through to you.

Lampworking day: On average a student will make 10 – 20beads
Fusing day: On average a student will make 3 pendants / 2 coasters

If there are 3 or more of you in a group you can book this course on a day or evening that would suit you and have a private session.
