Beginners Lampworking workshop

Born to Bead offers 1 on 1 training for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Lampworkers with Lisa-Jane Harvey.

Starting with the following weekend workshop [aka Beadmaking Beginners Workshop] This is the perfect course for you if you want to learn how to be confident with a torch, comfortable handling molten glass, and inspired by your creative prowess. Designed to cater for complete beginners who are scared by curious enough to give it a go.

$450 includes all materials for the two days
Duration: Two day workshop Saturdays & Sundays 10h00 – 16h00

Where: Born to Bead studio 12 Minaret Drive Bucklands Beach Auckland

This class schedule includes:

Studio safety
How to use your torch, kiln and tools
How to use a lighter :)
Overview of glass
How to pull glass for decorating
Melting glass and moulding glass
Applying basic decorations such as dots and spots
Controlling heat to leave raised elements
Layered dots patterns, bubbles as elements, concepts of transparency and opacity with design
Encasing basics

Creating vibrant background such as vine cane
Basic striped murrini cane
Core encasing, floral beads
Basic stringer control
Silver foiling
Mirror Beads

Beads cycle in the kiln overnight so completed beads will either be collected by yourself the following day or alternatively for an additional fee Born to Bead can clean your beads and post them through to you.

On average a student will make 20 – 40 beads over the two days

Group Discounts:
If there are 3 or more of you in a group you can book this course on a weekend that would suit you and have a private session.
